My own mother lived for several years in a dementia ward before passing away at 93. She'd light up with every visit. She couldn't always remember exactly who we were, but she knew "we belonged" to her. Her most precious possessions were the photos of her husband and family.
When you can't always be with the ones you love, leave them with a fond memory, and a comfort pillow they can hug.
