I recently read that the world is becoming less colourful. The majority of cars are now grey, black, or white. Our homes are mostly neutral colours. People's closets are full of black and neutrals. Although safe, I find this all kind of sad. Fortunately, florals and bold colours are still hanging in there for the more adventurous and as accents for the rest. All the colours above are from the Fall & Winter designs and runways. Earthy textures and colours are popular as well as some ocean themes. Dark jewel tones create elegance and pale pastels invoke nostalgia. Chartreuse (yellowish-green) is heavily used on the runways, as well as flattering blues and calming neutrals. For a more youthful, joyful look, tangerine and cherry reds are injected into the mix. There is lots of texture, abstract art, floral silhouettes, bold patterns, and graphics. They even use blurred and upholstery florals! It seems as though just about anything goes. Pops of our favourite colours can instantly elevate our mood and brighten up an otherwise dull room. This is especially important to note as we start spending more time indoors. Personalize a bit and surround yourself with what brings you joy. Whether it is clothing or home decor, we all can use a little pick me up as the days shorten and the autumn chill sets in.
